The basics for every visit
Different activities have different check-in steps, but a few things apply across Area 27: arrive with your documents complete, use the participant's legal name on waivers, bring the right footwear, and leave enough time for staff to get you checked in before the session starts.
Use legal names
Use the participant's legal name and current contact details. This helps staff match waivers, bookings and guest lists at check-in.
Wear closed-toe shoes
Closed-toe shoes are required for Rally Kart and Kartplex, and they are the right choice for all driving activities at the park.
Arrive early
Give yourself time for parking, waiver confirmation, equipment, briefing and any vehicle checks. Late arrival can reduce or forfeit driving time.

Choose the right document
Waivers are activity-specific. If you are unsure, start with the waivers hub and complete the form connected to the experience you booked. Member lap days and private events may require additional forms or guest-driver documents.
Annual liability waiver
For member lap days, guests and on-site access, complete the Area 27 annual liability waiver and review the current track documents.
Terms and booking docs
Review the Academy 27 and ZR2 terms before your booked date. Passengers and vehicle buyouts must be pre-registered.
Kartplex waiver and booking
Kartplex waiver and booking steps are handled through Kartplex. Drivers under 19 require a parent or guardian waiver.
Private club
Member lap days
Come prepared before you drive the road circuit. Member lapping depends on current waivers, driver eligibility, vehicle condition and the day's instructions from Area 27 staff.
Driver licenceDrivers may be asked to show a valid driver's licence before participating on track.
HelmetUse a Snell 2015 or newer helmet for track sessions unless the day's rules require a newer standard.
Vehicle conditionCheck brakes, tires, fluid levels, hoses, steering and suspension before entering the paddock or pits.
Interior prepRemove loose items, floor mats and unapproved suction-cup mounts from the vehicle before driving.
- Complete the annual waiver and make sure all guests sign the required waiver when they enter the facility.
- Arrive rested, hydrated and unimpaired. Do not consume alcohol within 12 hours of a track session.
- Review the rules, flag guide, passing zones and track map before the day begins.
- Warm up and cool down properly. Complete a cool-down lap before entering the pits and do not apply the parking brake after coming off track.
- Keep phones out of the vehicle during track sessions, including passengers.
Public experience
Rally Kart
Rally Kart is an outdoor off-road karting session. Expect dust, dirt, changing grip and a required safety briefing before you drive.
Minimum ageDrivers must be at least 12 years old. A legal guardian must complete the required consent for minors.
Arrival timeArrive at least 15 minutes before your reservation for check-in and helmet fitting.
Safety equipmentThe required safety equipment is provided and included with the Rally Kart experience.
WeatherRally Kart operates in most weather, including rain, unless severe weather affects safety.
- Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can handle outdoor dust, dirt and possible mud.
- Use the driver’s legal name and current contact details for the booking.
- No prior motorsport or karting experience is required; staff provide the briefing before you drive.
- Sessions begin promptly. Late arrival may reduce drive time or forfeit the reservation.
Public experience
ZR2 Off-Road Academy
The ZR2 Off-Road Academy runs on Area 27's Birds of Prey Off-Road Circuit with Chevrolet Colorado and Silverado ZR2 trucks, coaching and terrain selected to teach real 4WD control.
Driver ageDrivers must be at least 18 years old. Passengers must be at least 9 and pre-registered.
3-hour timingAM program timing is listed as 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM, with refreshments provided.
1-day timingThe 1-day program is listed as 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with lunch and refreshments provided.
VehiclesZR2 programs use Area 27's Chevrolet ZR2 trucks. Personal vehicles are not used in the off-road program.
- Review the terms and conditions before arrival, especially if you are booking a passenger seat or vehicle buyout.
- Vehicle buyout includes up to 4 guests with a maximum of 2 drivers per vehicle.
- Wear practical outdoor clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for gravel, dust and changing terrain.
- No off-roading experience is required. Coaches guide the sequence, pace and techniques.
Kartplex at Area 27
Go-karting
Kartplex is the public go-karting facility at Area 27. Booking, waiver steps, age requirements, weather rules and session availability are managed through Kartplex.
Arrival timeArrive 30 minutes early for check-in, waivers, equipment and driver briefing.
FootwearClosed-toe shoes are mandatory. Sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.
EquipmentPublic race bookings include a helmet and balaclava. Personal helmet use is subject to approval.
RainKartplex does not operate in rain. Check the live booking terms for weather-credit details.
- Drivers under 19 require a parent or guardian to complete the Kartplex waiver.
- Public Arrive + Drive races are listed at about 10 minutes, with single-race and three-race options.
- The published rental-kart limit is 260 lb / 116 kg, and each driver must safely fit and exit the seat.
- Electric Kid Kart sessions are for ages 4-7. Drivers ages 8-12 must complete the Rookie Racer course before standard Arrive + Drive karting.

Do guests need waivers?
Yes. Guests, passengers and participants may need to sign the applicable Area 27 or Kartplex waiver before accessing activities or facility areas.
What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes are the baseline. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. For member lapping, use proper driving footwear and the required helmet standard. For Rally Kart and ZR2, expect dust and outdoor conditions.
Do public experiences run in rain?
Rally Kart operates in most weather, including rain, unless safety is affected. Kartplex does not operate in rain. ZR2 and track programs may be adjusted by staff based on safety, weather and surface conditions.
Can I bring my own vehicle?
Member lap days and some Academy 27 road-course programs may involve personal vehicles when eligible. ZR2 Off-Road Academy uses Area 27 Chevrolet ZR2 trucks. Kartplex and Rally Kart use the provided karts.
