Academy 27 and ZR2 Off-Road Experience Terms and Conditions
Terms and conditions for Academy 27 and ZR2 Off-Road Experience participants, including eligibility, registration, damage deposits, safety rules, guests, cancellations, and frequently asked questions.
The minimum age to rent an Area 27 fleet vehicle, including Corvette, Cadillac, or ZR2 models, is 21 years old.
Participants must see Area 27 staff and complete all required documents before driving or riding in a vehicle.
A credit card pre-authorization is required for all participants using vehicles on track.
Eligibility And Participation
- All participants must hold a valid driver's license and be able to present it in person at registration.
- The minimum age requirement in order to rent an Area 27 fleet vehicle, including Corvette, Cadillac, or ZR2 models, is 21 years old.
- Minors may be eligible to participate if they can provide verified prior motorsports experience and have written parental consent to drive.
- For ZR2 Off-Road Experiences, vehicle buy outs are available to allow drivers to bring their families as passengers during the experience. Kids must be 9 years of age or older, or if under the age of 9, must meet the ICBC requirements to be out of a booster seat.
- All participants attend and operate vehicles at their own risk and must see an Area 27 staff member to sign all documents prior to driving or getting in a vehicle.
Registration And Arrival
- Full payment is due at the time of booking to reserve your spot.
- All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to GST.
- Please arrive no earlier than the registration start time listed in your confirmation details.
Upon Arrival
- If the black gate is closed, call our office at 236-488-0027 to be buzzed in.
- Proceed straight ahead, then turn left into the paddock area, and park in any available spot.
- After parking, go to the lower level of the clubhouse to check in at reception.
At Registration, You Will Be Required To Complete
- Liability Waiver
- Vehicle Rental Agreement, if using a fleet vehicle
- Vehicle Sign-Out Form, a brief visual inspection to record any pre-existing wear and tear
- Damage Deposit Authorization, required for all participants using vehicles on track
Note: All individuals on-site, including non-driving guests, must sign the liability waiver.
Bookings, Promo Codes And Discounts
- Program spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. This includes gift certificate holders.
- Promo codes must be valid and approved by SOMC staff for valid use.
- All discounts are non-transferable and may be modified or revoked without prior notice.
Cancellations, Refunds And Program Changes
- Refunds are not offered unless due to extenuating circumstances or force majeure, as defined and determined by SOMC. If you must cancel your program date, your deposit will be held and applied to a new program date.
- Courses may be rescheduled or canceled if minimum participant numbers are not met.
Weather And Force Majeure
- Programs proceed in all weather conditions, including rain.
- If extreme weather poses a safety risk, activities may be adjusted, paused, or rescheduled.
- In the case of force majeure, such as natural disasters or government restrictions, SOMC reserves the right to reschedule or refund affected programs at its discretion.
Damage Deposit Policy
To ensure the safety and fairness of the experience, a damage deposit is required per vehicle. This includes both personal vehicles and Area 27 fleet vehicles. Damage deposit is based on the vehicle model chosen and experience. The deposit will be pre-authorized on a credit card.
- In the event of any incident, the participant will be responsible for the damage cost or the deductible amount, whichever is lower.
- Deductibles are typically 10% of the vehicle's market value.
- If damage costs exceed the deductible, the participant will be responsible for the full amount.
- Participants may be required to provide an additional deposit to continue the program if an incident involving them occurs.
- Damage-free vehicles will have their deposit released within 3 business days following the event.
- Drivers will conduct a vehicle inspection before use.
Insurance Options
Participants using personal vehicles are fully responsible for their own insurance coverage. Optional daily insurance coverage is available through TrackGuard by Acera Insurance for both personal and Area 27 fleet vehicles. Details are provided in the information email shared with you at time of booking.
On-Track And Off-Road Rules And Safety
- Helmets and safety gear will be provided for on track experiences. Participants are responsible for damage to any borrowed equipment.
- Mobile phone use is strictly prohibited while driving or when in a running vehicle.
- Drivers of manual transmission vehicles must be proficient in their operation.
- Participants must follow all instructor guidance to ensure safety.
Non-Driving Guests
We welcome guests to join and enjoy the atmosphere of the event. Please note:
- Pre-arrangements are required for all guests and must be approved in advance by Area 27 staff.
- Guests may observe the program but must not interfere with instructional or classroom sessions.
- If guests will be joining for lunch or dinner, please submit their full name and any dietary restrictions in advance. Additional charges will apply based on the experience.
Media And Promotions
- SOMC may photograph or film the experience and its participants. By participating, you consent to the use of your image or likeness in promotional materials, unless otherwise requested in writing prior to the event.
Liability And Legal
- Participation in all programs is voluntary and at the participant's own risk.
- SOMC and its affiliates are not liable for injuries, damage, or loss sustained during participation.
- By signing the necessary agreements, participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless SOMC from all claims related to their participation or vehicle use.
Frequently Asked Questions
What safety equipment do I need, and do I need a helmet?
No special safety equipment is required for the off-road portion of the program. All necessary safety measures are built into both the vehicles and the course itself. Just wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear suitable for movement. While on track, a helmet will be provided and required. We will handle the rest.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes, Area 27 can accommodate guests. Please note that pre-arrangements must be made in advance through the event organizer. For safety reasons, guests must remain in designated viewing areas.
What if it rains?
Our programs run rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, activities and timing may be adjusted to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Do I need prior driving experience?
No prior experience is necessary. The program is designed for all skill levels. Whether you're new to off-road driving or have some experience, our instructors will ensure you feel confident and well-prepared.
Will I be driving alone on the track?
Off-Road: You will take turns driving and riding with a fellow participant. It is part of the full experience. On-Track: You will be provided your own vehicle for the duration of the on-track driving portion. An in-car radio will keep you connected to your instructor for real-time coaching and feedback.
What vehicle will I be driving?
You will be behind the wheel of one of Academy 27's specially prepared Chevrolet fleet trucks. These vehicles are equipped with off-road tires and safety features, designed to handle a variety of terrain conditions with confidence and consistency.
What happens if there is an incident during the experience?
If an incident occurs, the Chief Instructor will provide direction on the next steps. The damage deposit will be held until the vehicle is assessed and any necessary repairs are calculated. If the cost exceeds the deposit, additional charges may apply up to the amount of the deductible.
Can I use my own vehicle?
No, personal vehicles are not permitted in our off-road programs. The experience is tailored around the performance and specifications of our Chevrolet fleet, ensuring safety, consistency, and the best possible instruction for all participants.
Are there any age or license requirements?
Yes. You must be 21 years or older and hold a valid driver's license if you wish to rent a fleet vehicle. International licenses are accepted if they are legally valid for use in Canada.
Can I switch vehicles during the event?
Vehicle changes may be allowed, but are at the discretion of the Chief Instructor based on availability and the event schedule.
Is food provided during the event?
Yes. Light refreshments and snacks are provided throughout. For programs lasting over 3 hours, lunch is also included. If you have dietary restrictions not noted during booking, please contact our team in advance. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Are there any health or fitness requirements for participating?
There are no specific fitness requirements. However, participants should be in generally good health and able to safely operate a vehicle. If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please notify the event organizer prior to your participation.
