Our Story

Area 27 began many years ago as a young man's dream for a world-class racing facility to be located in the Okanagan Valley. At the time, professional motorsports was at its zenith with seven top-level racing series filling race track grandstands across Canada. One by one these racing series would fall by the wayside as anti-tobacco legislation would see to their demise.

Fast forward to 2012 when the ideal location for an Okanagan race track was finally discovered, including the likelihood of gaining necessary approvals. Now the purpose had to change to make such an endeavour possible. Enter the Motorsport Country Club, a club for sports car enthusiasts, very similar in structure to a golf or yacht club.

Owners of fine sports cars need a place to call their own, where they could associate with like-minded friends, work on their driving skills, and enjoy the excellence that the engineers infused into their cars. Area 27 has become much more than a race track; it's a place where new best friends are made, childhood dreams are realized, and the thrills of life in the fast lane are all within reach.

My passion for racing started when I was 5. The only thing I wanted to do every day, as a little boy, was to play with little cars around the tracks I had designed on the carpets or with books. It later evolved into slot-car racing where the fun and passion of designing tracks was as strong as playing with the cars themselves.

I have been lucky to race all over the globe on a diversity of tracks over the years. Some tracks were amazing for that single qualifying-lap excitement of driving on the edge and pushing the limit. Other tracks provided for great races with incredible overtaking opportunities. With all these options for rushes of adrenaline, there were also the tracks that seemed to lack soul or excitement.

I have always relished the challenge of designing an exciting track, taking into account the single-lap excitement, combined with wheel-to-wheel racing opportunities, all while avoiding the pitfalls of the uninteresting tracks. The goal is to design a track I would be proud of getting pole position on, where the fans would also enjoy watching an exciting race. Area 27 is for the passionate motorsports enthusiast like yourself, a place where you can safely find your limits, experience the Grand Prix lifestyle, and live your dream.
